Serang Muktamar Fallout: Mathla’ul Anwar Election Results Challenged in Court

JAKARTA, thebantenpost.com — The aftermath of the 21st Mathla’ul Anwar Muktamar (Congress), recently held in Serang City, Banten, has officially entered the legal arena. Andi Yudi Hendriawan Djuwaeli, a candidate for the General Chairman of the Executive Board of Mathla’ul Anwar (PBMA), has filed a lawsuit at the Central Jakarta District Court, citing alleged irregularities from the initial process to the final decision.

Andi asserted that the congress, which took place in Banten’s capital, was marred by systemic intervention and procedural violations.

“We have registered the lawsuit at the Central Jakarta District Court because the results of the 21st Mathla’ul Anwar Muktamar are procedurally flawed and fraught with fraud. There were systematic efforts by certain parties to secure a victory for one specific candidate,” Andi stated on Monday (May 18, 2026).

Through a constitutional legal avenue known as an Unlawful Act (Perbuatan Melawan Hukum / PMH) lawsuit, Andi is urging the panel of judges to scrutinize the legitimacy of the decisions produced during the forum.

“I am taking constitutional steps by filing a PMH case. Assisted by a team of professional lawyers, I am confident that the honorable judges will grant our lawsuit,” said the son of the charismatic former General Chairman of PB Mathla’ul Anwar, the late KH. Muhammad Irsjad Djuwaeli.

During the court proceedings, Andi was accompanied by prominent organizational figures, including the General Chairman of the Mathla’ul Anwar Youth Generation (DPP Generasi Muda) H. Ahmad Nawawi, the Chairman of the Trust Council for North Sulawesi Firasat Mokodompit, and the Chairman of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Board Syafrudin Atasoge.

For Andi, this legal battle is a moral obligation to ensure the organization—which was founded before Indonesia’s independence—remains transparent, healthy, and dignified.

“For the members of Mathla’ul Anwar, this is not merely about a court verdict. It demonstrates our collective maturity in safeguarding the organization’s dignity and our endeavor to break free from pragmatic interests,” he emphasized.

First Trial Postponed to June

Providing an update on the legal proceedings, Rocky P. Pasaeno, Andi Djuwaeli’s legal counsel from Kesuma Muliana & Co (Advocate & Solicitors), explained that the case is currently in the administrative phase. The inaugural trial, initially scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2026, has been postponed and will resume on June 3, 2026.

Rocky emphasized that the legal team is fully prepared with robust evidence to back their claims in court.

“We have prepared a substantial amount of data and facts, supported by numerous authentic pieces of evidence indicating alleged fraud during the recent Mathla’ul Anwar Muktamar forum. There are at least six parties listed as defendants and co-defendants. We are optimistic that this lawsuit can be won,” Rocky concluded.

As a background, the 21st Mathla’ul Anwar Muktamar was held from April 11 to 13, 2026, in Serang City. The race for the leadership was highly competitive and dynamic. In the final tally, Andi Djuwaeli secured 71 votes, narrowly losing by a margin of just 6 votes to Jajuli Juweni, who garnered 77 votes.
