thebantenpost.com. Rangkasbitung — The Lebak Regency Government, through the Regional Secretariat, held a Public Consultation Forum on Tuesday (11/11/2025) at the Multatuli Hall, Setda Lebak, to discuss strategic steps in managing Street Vendors (PKL). The event served as an open dialogue space for the regional government and the community to formulate better urban management strategies.
Four key speakers representing major institutions attended the forum, the Assistant Regional Secretary II of Lebak, representatives from the Lebak District Attorney’s Office, Kodim 0603 Lebak, and Lebak Police. They shared their institutional perspectives on supporting a more structured, humane, and fair PKL arrangement.
Assistant Regional Secretary II emphasized that the management process cannot run effectively without direct public involvement.
“We do not want to work alone. PKL management is a collaborative space where the community also becomes the subject of development. That is why forums like this are important as a platform to listen and formulate joint actions,” he explained.
He added that the Lebak Regency Government has conducted numerous meetings with the PKL community before drafting technical policies.
“We have held more than 15 formal meetings with the PKL representatives. The Regent’s directive is clear, analyze first, understand their conditions and aspirations, and only then decide on the policy,” he said.
From the law enforcement perspective, Prosecutor Irfano from the Lebak District Attorney’s Office highlighted the need for clear regulations to avoid misunderstandings in implementation.
“Sanctions are the last resort. The priority is to create regulations that are understood and obeyed together. Order must be built on awareness,” he explained.
He called on all parties to work together to keep Lebak as a shared and promising home.
“Lebak Regency belongs to all of us. If we do not care for it and take ownership, then who will?” he added.
The forum was also attended by various community elements, including community leaders, academics, media, NGOs, and representatives of student organizations. The Lebak DPD of the Mathla’ul Anwar Student Association (HIMMA) also sent its delegates to participate and share their views in the discussion.
Agus Jubaedi, Chair of DPD HIMMA Lebak, expressed appreciation and hope toward the regional government when contacted via WhatsApp.
“We attended as a form of support for better urban management. However, it is important to ensure that the voices of the PKL are truly represented. Management should not marginalize, but empower the economic foundation of small communities,” he stated.
He emphasized that student organizations are ready to serve as a constructive and critical partner.
“We are ready to collaborate and provide perspectives from the younger generation so that PKL management policies truly uphold social justice,” he concluded.
