PBAK 2025: Rector of UIN Jakarta Encourages New Students to Contribute to the Nation and Care for the Environment

Jakarta, UIN Online News – Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta has once again held the 2025 Introduction to Academic and Student Culture (PBAK), attended by thousands of new students from various regions across Indonesia. The event, which took place on Tuesday–Wednesday, 26–27 August 2025 at the UIN Jakarta Main Field and Harun Nasution Auditorium, serves as an initial step in shaping the character and integrity of students as both academic individuals and citizens of the nation.

The Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized that PBAK is not merely an orientation event but a crucial process for instilling academic culture and building student character.

“PBAK is the initial gateway for new students to enter the academic world. We want them to be not only intellectually intelligent but also socially aware, nationally insightful, and committed to nurturing diversity. This generation will lead Indonesia toward a more advanced future,” stated the Rector.

In addition to introducing the academic system, curriculum, and campus life, PBAK also strengthens students’ understanding of religious moderation, multicultural values, and love for the nation. These values are important pillars continuously upheld by UIN Jakarta as an Excellent Campus that integrates scholarship, Islam, and Indonesianness.

“Today is an important moment. Hundreds of thousands of people applied to UIN Jakarta, and only about 9,100 were accepted. This is a great fortune that you must cherish. The future of UIN is also in your hands. Therefore, from now on, set your intention to learn, enrich your experiences, and build character and personality. The world of education needs the participation of students who are caring, compassionate, and ready to contribute to the nation,” explained the Rector.

With the theme Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s World: Spreading Love, Nurturing the Universe, this year’s PBAK emphasizes the important role of students as agents of change who are not only academically accomplished but also possess social responsibility, environmental awareness, and a commitment to human values.

PBAK 2025 features cross-disciplinary figures who will deliver public lectures, motivation, and national insights to new students. The speakers include: Indonesian Minister of Religion, Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A.; Indonesian Minister of Basic & Secondary Education, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, M.Ed.; Indonesian Minister of Women’s Empowerment & Child Protection, Dra. Hj. Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, M.Si.; Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Viada Hafid; Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) of Indonesia, Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si.; Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU), Mochammad Afifuddin, M.Si.; Indonesian Preacher and Writer, Habib Husein Ja’far Al Hadar; Academic and Humanitarian Law Researcher, Zezen Zaenal Muttaqin, S.J.D.; and YouTuber, Math Teacher, and Creative Entrepreneur, Jerome Polin Sijabat.

These speakers affirm that UIN Jakarta is open to cross-disciplinary thinking, spanning politics, law, security, education, and the digital world. New students will gain broad insights connecting knowledge with social, political, cultural realities, and technological developments.

As one of the best State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) in Indonesia, UIN Jakarta is not only known for its strong academic tradition but also as a center for developing religious moderation and global innovation.

Through PBAK, UIN Jakarta strengthens its image as a campus that produces an excellent generation with:

The participants of PBAK UIN Jakarta are new students from 12 faculties: the Faculty of Educational Sciences (FITK), Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU), Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH), Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM), Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI), Faculty of Psychology (FPSI), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and the Faculty of Medicine (FK). With the implementation of PBAK 2025, UIN Jakarta further solidifies its position as a campus that produces intellectual generations who are religious, moderate, and ready to nurture the universe.
